    For the last week or so, my MS Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 will just stop working. The lights are off as if it isn't plugged in at all. If I unplug the USB and plug it right back in, it works again...but within anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so, it will happen again.

    This is EXTREMELY frustrating for a keyboard that is only a year and a half old, especially when my old wireless version of this keyboard lasted almost 10 years.

    To be clear, I have all the drivers up to date. (It is clearly not a driver situation anyway since the lights go out showing it is not getting power.) And it is not a problem with the USB ports on my computer. I have tried it on multiple ports. from USB 2, USB 3, and ones that are always powered on. IT happens with all of them.

    This is the same keyboard that I have recently posted issues with certain shift combinations not working. Where I can't type an X with the right shift key, but can with the left. (The shift key you wouldn't use to type a capital x.) And where neither shift key works to get a ), but the 0 works fine. That problem has come up twice, but has cleared itself with no explanation eventually both times.

    The keyboard is under warranty, and previously, I was told to take it back to Best Buy where I bought it, but they pretty much laughed at me when I tried since obviously I don't still have the box and I don't think I even still have the annoying stand. But this keyboard should last longer than 19 months and yet this gave me problems even months before that.

    Hello Michael,

    In Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 you don't need any of driver to run. Its just run so quickly and you don't need to install any kind of drivers to run this Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000.

    Still as you already told above that you have installed Drivers then you have to first uninstall Drivers and connect again Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I hope this might help you out.
