Windows 10: MS LifeChat 3000 USB Headset stopped working after update

The headset above has worked without fail for as long as I've had it. In the audio selection box it has always been specifically listed by name. Windows updated last night and now it no longer works. The specific name has been replaced with 'Speakers (2-USB Audio)'. I've right clicked the volume icon in the system tray and selected 'Open Sound Settings' to make sure the new name is selected, I see the volume and microphone bar bouncing around, indicating that it is receiving and believes it is sending, output, but there is no sound. I've gone to device settings and deleted the 'USB Audio' divers... I've downloaded and installed the specific LifeChat drivers... I've also updated the USB driver. When I run the troubleshooting utility, it finds no issues. Any suggestions?

LifeChat LX-3000 unplugged

I have had the LifeChat LX-3000
headset for a while now, 3 days ago it stopped working, device managed says unplugged I have tried every usb port snd checked
settings, it still says unplugged, getting real tired of microsoft products that stop working and I need a fix or I will buy a known working unit

I did the update this weekend for windows 10 this Saturday (14/05/16) just gone and since then windows seems to have lost my on board network card drivers, on board sound drivers (both of which I have managed to get sorted), however my headset as shown below
now will not work. Which is really annoying as i do a lot of online gaming on my pc and use my headset a lot. Prior to the updates it did on the Saturday my headset worked fine and I am wondering when you get this fixed please

Yeah and it looks like it is already selected anyway.

I did note that if you search for it at Microsoft it doesn't say it is compatible with Windows 10. They only offer driver software for Windows XP, Vista and 7. But I still would think a simple headset should work with a basic driver.

Anyway, see if this works. If you can make sure your LifeChat LX-3000 is plugged in first.

If you can Right Click your Start button and then choose Device Manager from the list.

In Device Manager, look for your LifeChat LX-3000. It might be under >Sound, video and game controllers or >Audio inputs and outputs. Click on the arrow > to expand the selection.

You should see your LifeChat LX-3000 in one of these areas.

When you locate it, Right Click it and then choose "Uninstall device" from the menu.

Make sure you also check the box next to "Delete the driver software for this device" if it's available and then click the Uninstall button.

Now, reboot your computer and your headset will get reinstalled on reboot.

Then check to see if your problem is resolved.
