Windows 10: MS Live-id preventing access to my laptop account

My windows 10 laptop seems to be in a strange configuration, which prevents mefrom logging into my account.My account on the laptop is a MS live-id account, for which I have the password.It is not a local account.However, for some reason, my laptop won't let me login because there is no internet connection tried everything I can think of to activate internet for login screen, but no luck.I have been able to get into the Administrative account, from which I have tried everything I can think of using windows power shell admin. But the Admin account does not allow access to an

Access to MS account

An employee was recently dismissed and we now do not have the passwords to either the laptop, or the MS account. Being a local party Association, it is imperative that we gain access to ensure that any data cannot be accessed by the now ex employee.
Any suggestions?
