Windows 10: MS Mail app sync option does not work anymore.

    The option under my account for syncing called 'as items arrive' stopped working about a month ago. It might have started with a Windows 1809 cumulative update although I am not positive on this. I have tried every method in order to get this function working again. I tried all the suggestions at

    https://windows101tricks.com/windows-10-mail-app-not-working/. Trying all the suggestions did manage to fix a few other problems with Mail but not the 'as items arrive' not working issue. For now I have to set the option to check mail every 15 minutes.


    Can it be confirmed that a cumulative update did indeed break this feature? If I can't get 'as items arrive' to work again is there a place in the Registry or elsewhere where I can specify a mail check of 1 minute?

    Auto sync Windows 10 Mail app

    I have a problem with Mail app on a Windows 10 system (updated from Windows 8).
    The sync settings just don't work on any email accounts and (of course) in the calendar app. I can open mail app up and force a manual refresh/sync which will also update the calendar with entries I make remotely or via phone but the regularity of checks is not working. Do others see this? It kind of makes the lives tiles redundant as the actual apps will only sync manually.
    I've checked other solutions like

    • Enable\Disable sync options in Settings under "Calendar" section
    • Run troubleshooting app from Microsoft
    • Rebooting system
    • Set app sync on "as items arrive" or "every 15 minutes"
    • Update mail app
    • Disable firewall

    None of these "fixes" worked. Everything else is working fine. If I press sync button it works (it downloads mail and calendar events) but the app doesn't do this automatically.
    (IMAP account)

    Someone has\had same problem? And have you managed to rectify this problem?

    This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. MS Mail app sync option does not work anymore. :)

    In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

    Where did you get that message about mail app isn't supported? And to create application password? Can you post a picture of it?

    I'm using gmail account in Mail app with two step verification and all I had to do was confirm password and second step verification.. All went smooth, and I'm getting mails in multiple Windows PCs and phone.
