    MS PHOTOS, broke again

PHOTOS hanging\crashing again; will: find device Android phone\digital camera find photos, tally count, find\see\return tally of how many photos are "new" since last Download but doesn't "check" or select for download. When trying to select "Items Since Last Import" App freezes and then closes. Returns the following Event Error:

Faulting application name: Microsoft.Photos.exe, version: 2020.19111.24110.0, time stamp: 0x5e7549b1

    Also getting 455 ESENT error
    svchost 8712,R,98 TILEREPOSITORYS-1-5-18: Error -1023 0xfffffc01 occurred while opening logfile C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log.
this directory\file doesn't exist; I did go in, as per other posts to manually add the missing part of the path: \TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log, didn't seem to help PHOTOS.

My hunch is that: there is a database somewhere, that logs what photos were downloaded and that is referenced, the next time that the camera is attached and a download is attempted.

Have "invested" over 8 hours yesterday with "support" run WinUpdateChecker, upgraded OS to 1909, attempted to: REPAIR, RESET, REREGISTER, UNINSTALL\REINSTALL the Photo App, run disk SFC, DISM - Check, Restore, Supersede, etc.., performed Inplace OS repair, reset Winsock, cleaned out

    %appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState, directory,

    No Change.

    Also getting
    EVENT 1000 IAStorIcon.exe,
EVENT 1026 errors with .NET runtime IAStoricon.exe and IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe

    Don't know if they're connected.

    Any insights welcome.

    :)

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done MS PHOTOS, broke again :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

Windows 7 Will Not Include Email, Photo and Movie Programs

I think people missed that MS did not say "Internet" in the program list. Just Email, Photo, Movie.
