Windows 10: ms-setting: display throwing error, right click is not working

Not able to access any programs, right click menu is showing loading in place of the graphics driver, Also Task manager, cmd prompt, browsers, settings etc not opening, only file explorer is working. I tried reinstalling Windows but it after a couple of days facing same issue. Please take a look at the images for more details.

Desktop Right Click Personalize and Display Settings don't work

Many thanks for your efforts. Just to clarify: Display Settings and Personalize have been present in the desktop submenu all along. It's that clicking on them did nothing (except a momentary command screen). They work properly from the 'Settings" submenus. I'd like for them to work from the Right-Click desktop menu,

I did all the steps you recommended, and they functioned as you predicted; thank you. I could run the reg files without permission error. After reboot, 'Display settings' was gone. I ran the 'Add Display' file, rebooted. Display Settings was back - But no joy - same no go as before.
I ran the steps again. Everything in registry permissions was still as we left it before. I ran the Add Display file, rebooted. Still the same as before.
What a bummer. If you have any further thoughts, I'd be grateful. Many thanks.

Display settings

To reset the settings back to default, follow these steps:

• Go to your desktop, right click and select Display Settings.
• Choose the appropriate settings from the options under Display.

Let us know if the above steps resolved the issue.

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.



Method 1:

Check if there are any errors listed in Device Manager:

• a. Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand all the devices and right-click on the drive.
• c. Select Properties and check if the device is working properly under Device Status.

Method 2:

If the device isn’t working properly, there will be an error listed with a yellow exclamation mark. Please get back to us with the error.

Here’s what you can try:

If there are any devices with errors, then update them:

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand the device with the error and right-click on the drive.
• Click on Update Driver Software and click on Search Automatically.
• Follow the prompted steps and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 3:



If the issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall the hardware driver and reinstall the latest hardware driver in compatibility mode from the manufacturer’s website and check, if it works.



Follow these steps to install the hardware driver in compatibility mode.

• 
  Download the latest hardware driver from the manufacturer’s website.
  
• 
  Right-click on the setup file and click on "Properties".
  
• 
  Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.
  
• 
  Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.
  

In the device manager, please ensure to update, uninstall or reinstall mainly Display adaptors, videos driver and Bluetooth drivers to fix your issue
