Windows 10: MS told me my Norton stopped working after changing a Norton setting

I changed a setting in Norton 360 from on to off and immediately afterwards a window opened that said your program has stopped woking, meaning Norton. The window was from MS. looking for a solution, etc.


So i went back in and put the setting back where it had been but now I don't know if there is something wrong with my Norton or not.


i turned off the intrusion performance monitoring alert . Thhat's it. It's now back on. What would thsi have to do with Windows?


I'm not calling Norton. Windows did this.


Any help?

Norton Security not loading with Windows 10 - Why?

I would recommend you follow the below given steps and check if it fixes the issue.

I would suggest you to restart the Norton services from the services list, and set the Norton service to automatic.

Follow these steps to run Norton services:

Method 1:

Follow these steps to run Norton services

a. Press Windows key + R

b. In the run windows, type services.msc

c. It will open services windows

d. select norton services from the list of services

e. double click on it

f. At the top of the window, Make sure the service status is started and startup type is
automatic.

g.Click apply and OK.

If this does not fix the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton software and check if it helps.

If the above steps do not help , I would suggest you to contact Norton for further help.

I would like to know when exactly are you getting the message that says "make internet explorer my default browser in place of Edge because Microsoft doesn't support extensions" and "Norton says some protection won't work, like identity safe and safe search"?

According to Norton support, it says that Norton is compatible with Windows 10.

I suggest you to refer to the following link and check if Norton has released any update patches. If so, please go ahead install them. Refer to the following link:

As you mentioned that Norton says some protection won't work, like identity safe and safe search, I suggest you to change SmartScreen Filter settings to ON. Refer to the steps:

To change SmartScreen Filter settings, go to More actions

> Settings, and under
Advanced settings, select View advanced Settings, and then, under
Privacy and services, turn the Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads with SmartScreen Filter setting on or off.

Norton 2009 is Fast

Too bad it's norton... the only virus it will detect is 10 years old!

The last time I used Norton, it told me the computer was clean. AVG listed 5500 viruses and I could go through the system32 folder and tell they had viruses by looking at the files.
