Windows 10: MS Update Catalog

I read that you can download updates from Microsoft Update Catalog, for instance to add to an WDS installation.

But how? If I search for Windows 10 1809, I see a lot of entries, do I need to download them all separately? I see some people mention a basket or so. I don't see them. And how do I know I a=have all the right ones?

Maybe you didn't have to go that far... Besides, one has to realize that not only software update i.e., A-V is necessary for this update to install correctly , it seems also that Hardware/Firmware updates are required such as microcode from Device OEMs. Does MS have a way of detecting whose machine is fit to receiving the update...No idea. We will have to wait out until next Tuesday (Tuesday patch) to find out..

 

MS Update Catalog has wrong file

Hi, the MS Update Catalog lists 3 downloadable files for KB4103730.

2 links are for Windows 8 and 1 is for Server 2012.

When you click on the link for Server 2012, it downloads one of the Windows 8 files, NOT Server 2012.

You can also see that 2 of the files are exactly the same size, so it's obvious that they have the wrong file linked to the 2012 download button.

Contacting MS by phone they tell me the only way to fix this is to pay $500 for a support Engineer to call me back.

A ridiculous answer to a simple website fix.

Does ANYONE know how I can get the correct file?

Windows Update Catalog is a website that offers updates for computers. Through this, you can download Windows Updates manually. Here are the steps on how to download Update from Window Update Catalog manually:

• OpenWindows Update Catalog.
  
• In the search text box, type your search terms. (Example: Windows 10 1607 X64)
• Click Search.
• Browse the list that is displayed to select the updates that you want to download.
• Click Add for each selection to add it to the download basket.
• Click view basket under the Search box to view the download basket.
• Verify your list of updates, and then click Download.
• Note If you are prompted, click Accept to accept the license agreement.
• Select the location where you want to save the updates. You can either type the full path of the folder, or you can click Browse to locate the folder.
• Click Continue to start the download.
• When the download is complete, click Close to close the Download Window.
• Close the Windows Update Catalog Window.
• Find the location that you specified in step 9.
  Note: If you have downloaded device drivers for installation, go to
  Installing Drivers.
• Double-click each update, and then follow the instructions to install the update. If the updates are intended for another computer, copy the updates to that computer, and then double-click the updates to install them.
