Windows 10: MS wants an email to log in. MS won't accept the only email address I use.

MS asks for my email address. I supply the address and am told the address already exists, Yet I can"t log in. What's up?

1. Changing the "language and region" worked. I can now log into my MS account.

2. This one still needs to be investigated:

When setting up, which password should I use for my new *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account? The same password used for the MS account? The *** Email address is removed for privacy *** address shows as an alias in my MS account.

OK, so you're confirming that the address, email at microsoft dot microsoft dot com is a legitimate MS email.

Can you tell me how to cancel the account since I don't want an MS acct with the email address at which the email was received?

 

My MS Exchange Email Address doesn't Work?

I managed to solve this - here is the solution in case anyone else has the same problem.

The problem was due to me using an alias MS account email in the format L: [email protected] in the Outlook new account wizard when the actual MS account name was in the format L: [email protected].

I simply swapped the accounts around so L: [email protected] is the actual account name and L: [email protected] is the alias account name.

I can now send and receive emails and my correct sender email address appears. Surprisingly, Windows 10 on both of my PCs recognised the switch between names and logged in fine. I did have to log out and re-log into some apps but all is now fine.
