    MS Word creation date keeps changing, how do I keep the date from changing


    My user needs to show evidence to his client that the original creation date of the document but we noticed that once the file was emailed the creation date changes. Is any way to stop the date from updating when the other user received it?I am following the trend on Date Created and Date Modified are changed to current date on email - Microsoft CommunityI tried to zip the file before sending it out, but the date extracted is the date when the file was last modified. Can you advise if there is any other ways to resolve this.

    Word Document Creation Date Changing

    Hello,

    My OS is Windows 10 and my concern has to do with Word.

    When I access a previous Word document and edit the document, the creation date of the document gets updated to the date I accessed the document.

    For example, I created my document on August 11, 2022. I accessed it today (August 17, 2022) and made some edits.

    The creation date changes to August 17, 2022.

    I did not create the doc today. I just made some changes- I modified it.

    The creation date should remain: August 11, 2022 and the modified date should be today, August 17, 2022 as I only edited my document.

    How do I correct this to maintain my word documents to keep the original creations date and to just change modified dates when my word document is actually modified?

    I appreciate it is One Drive on Microsoft Office but the principle applies to One Drive itself

    If OneDrive backup is on the each time a folder is backed up to OneDrive, the creation date is the date of the backup to the Cloud

    This happens of course, even if you have not changed edited or deleted or modified anything

    Numerous requests have been made to Microsoft for this to be changed, but as far as I know it has not been and Microsoft have I think said it is unlikely it will

    I could provide you with numerous examples but I doubt it would help you

    Date settings keeps changing

    Hi Brian,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    Please follow the steps below to synchronize the system and check if it helps.


    • Check the setting for Date/Time by choosing the Desktop tile and then left click on the date/time in the corner.

    • Click on change date and time settings> Additional date, time and regional settings> Click on Set
      Date & Time> Choose Internet Time> click on Change time settings> Tick on check box
      Synchronize with an Internet time server> and select times.windows.com (Update Now) Click
      OK. PC is now synchronized with Internet time server.

    • Restart and check.
