Windows 10: Ms works 7.0 works in W10 64 bit but not in 32 bit-in build 10130...

Ms works 7.0. in W10 64 bit but not in 32 bit-in build 10130.

Here are my test methods
64 bit clean install of 10130 works installed & worked
64 bit upgrade install from 10130 works installed & worked
32 (X86) bit clean install from 10130 works wouldn't install and of course didn't work. Unable to do upgrade testing on that.

Windows Defender (64 bit computer) Error I consistently get is: 0x800106ba

Has anyone gotten Windows Defender to do a 'FULL Scan' on a 64 Bit Windows installation?????

Beginning with Build 10130, Windows Defender will not consistently do a 'FULL Scan'; after some new Builds after 10130 it would; but then it would quit allowing a 'FULL Scan' after later updates were applied.

Error I consistently get is: 0x800106ba

My 32 bit machine works OK with Defender and Windows 10.

I'm starting to think that the 64 Bit machine (Dell Precision T7400) might not be totally liking Windows 10; as the 32 bit machines seem to perform OK with Windows 10......

Feedback appreciated on 64 Bit experiences with Windows 10......

How to migrate to Windows 10 64 bit from 32 bit versions of Windows

Interested in switching from 32-bit to 64-bit, but would like answers to some questions first:

1) my PC has a 32-bit OS with a 64-bit processor, originally using Vista Pro, but since then I've gone to W8>W8.1>W10 Pro. However, it only has 2GB of RAM - is that enough to run a 64-bit OS? (The MS website says that 2GB is enough for W10).

2) I've not yet received or installed the W10 Anniversary update. Should I try to migrate from 32-bit to 64-bit before installing this update? If I do switch to 64-bit, will Microsoft automatically send me a 64-bit version of the update?

3) Assuming all goes well with the 32>64-bit switch, how long does the process take? The appsforwin10 article makes it look relatively straightforward, but people have had problems with it!

 

Is there actually a 64 bit version of Microsoft Works? I am trying to install 8.5 to a Windows 64 bit, but get a crash when opening database file. I get Works 9 to do a seemingly clean install, but get some weird errors at various points as well. For instance, I can't open .wks word processor files from desktop shortcuts, but will open fine within Works. I'm thinking it may because this Windows version is 64 bit? Works 8, 8.5 and 9 all work perfectly on Windows 7 32-bit systems here (as well as XP, Win 8, and 10) ....

 

Apparently there never was a 64 bit version of Microsoft Works. It would seem unlikely. It was designed as a basic office suite where a 64 bit version would have little to offer. Most 32 bit software will run on a 64 bit OS but there are exceptions, particularly older software. Very likely it would run on Vista 64 bit but was of course was never tested on Windows 7 or later as they did not yet exist.

 

Any anyone here successfully been able to get Works 9 (or 8.5) to install and operate correctly on a 64 bit system?
