Windows 10: MSCONFIG/General/ Selective startup

Discus and support MSCONFIG/General/ Selective startup in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; I can't get my PC to do a normal start up. When I select normal start up in MSCONFIG and hit apply and boot it reverts to Selective start up. However... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by Pinefang, Aug 26, 2015.

    MSCONFIG/General/ Selective startup


    I can't get my PC to do a normal start up. When I select normal start up in MSCONFIG and hit apply and boot it reverts to Selective start up. However everything appears to be working normally. I'm not sure if it is or if it is actually doing a Selective start up. Any ideas?

    Systems Configuration

    If I make changes I click "Apply" the "OK".

    This what is happening. This morning I started my PC in normal mode. I check the setting in msconfig:

    General tab

    Startup selection

    Selective startup

    - Load system service

    - Load startup items

    Boot tab

    Nothing ticked

    Restarted. Returns to Normal mode. No settings in msconfig changed.

    I then changed the settings:

    General tab

    Startup selection

    Normal mode

    Nothing else was changed. I rebooted. Opened in Safe Mode. Msconfig settings had changed.

    General tab

    Startup selection

    Selective startup

    - Load system service

    - Load startup items

    Boot tab

    Boot options

    Safe boot with network.

    To return my PC back to Normal Mode I have to reset msconfig to

    General tab

    Startup selection

    Selective startup

    - Load system service

    - Load startup items

    Boot tab

    Nothing ticked

    It seems odd that having the startup set to Normal mode it changes itself to Safe mode.

    Password Option is not coming with my windows 10 PC

    Went to msconfig

    In the general section i selected the option "Selective startup" where load startup items was not selected.

    And when system restarted, password was not coming.

    Finally i need to reinstall the system.

    It's normal. As long as everything is checked under "Selective startup", you're good to go. *Smile

    I'm not sure why, but it started to be like this at some point since Windows 7.

    If all selective startup options are checked, it's essentially the same as "Normal startup" though.

    MSCONFIG/General/ Selective startup

    my windows oem 8.1 did that as well but windows 10 isn't like that on my system.... go to show that each system is different lol
