msedgewebview2.exe blocked by Windows Firewall, creating problems - can't unblock

I'm facing a problem where msedgewebview2.exe seems to be blocked by Windows Firewall, rendering some software that relies on it unusable. There are no firewall rules blocking it, and adding rules explicitly allowing it doesn't solve the issue.I've installed Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control for easier access to firewall rules / logs. Here's a typical log showing the the blocked traffic:Actions I've tried so far:Manually creating rules to allow msedgewebview2.exe, both through Malwarebytes Windows Firewall Control and Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced SecurityUninstalling Malwarebytes

    Windows Firewall blocking websites

    I have blocked IP addresses, e.g. 255.255.255.255, not URLs, e.g. somewebsite.co m.

As far as unblocking, look at your Windows Firewall rules. Do you see anything that is blocked? If you do, click on the Scope tab and see what is listed there.

  3. Windows Firewall blocking websites

That's odd, everywhere I tried searching, when the problem first arose, people said that this was not possible. I don't suppose you know how to do the reverse, and UNblock sites?

  4. msedgewebview2.exe blocked by Windows Firewall, creating problems - can't unblock

I need a firewall that allows me to easily block / unblock programs.

Another problem with router firewalls is they often simply see all local traffic as good. So, for example, they would do nothing to protect a connected computer from infection from an inserted infected USB stick. And they may do nothing to protect other connected computers on the same network from malware distributed by the USB stick infected computer.

So I agree - use a decent hardware based router firewall to protect us from external threats, but each locally connected computer should use a decent software based firewall too. Fortunately, it does not take any special techniques or proprietary code to block a port. And the vast majority of users never need to create firewall rules so the firewall built into Windows is more than adequate for most users. If more flexibility is desired, then there are plenty alternatives and Windows Firewall will gladly step out of the way. Users just should not assume the alternatives are blocking ports better. It does not work that way. A blocked port is a blocked port.
