Windows 10: MSFS2020, Windows 11, problem CD installing: DefaultFeature / data7.cab CD number 6

Hello,I am currently installing CD installing microsoft flight simulator 2020 on my laptop it has all the requirements to run it.I got through the first 5 CDs without any problem but on the 6th, I have a error : DefaultFeature from the file data7.cab.the CD is new so it doesn't have any scratch. I think it is somehow corrupted wich is really frustrating especially for that kind of product...Any idea would be helpfull...Thanks for your help

Installing XP without a CD drive

Follow these steps:

1. Create a boot floppy on a Windows 98 machine. (or get it here: http://files.frashii.com/~bootdisk/alabama/boot98se.exe)
2. Boot your new machine with the boot floppy using the "boot with CDROM support" option.
3. Place the Windows 98 CD into the CDROM and at the c: prompt navigate to the Windows 98 directory on the CD. <--- you can skip this step, by dling smartdrv.exe and xcopy.exe over the web and copying it to the floppy
4. Start smartdrv.exe and copy the xcopy.exe command to the c:root. (If you can't find it you can easily download a copy from the Web.)
5. Put the XP CD in and xcopy the installation folder (I386) to the C: drive.
6. Switch to the copied folder and type winnt.exe (the XP installation command).
7. Windows XP will now install itself.

 

Installing XP without a CD drive

That won't work, ktr. His cd-rom is broken.

 

Windows 7 Professional keeps dropping the DVD/CD drive

Working with a fresh install (2nd attempt) of Windows 7 Professional on new hardware. The motherboard is a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. Running 4G of RAM and an Intel Q9400 Quad Core CPU. The DVD/CD optical drive is a Pioneer DVR-218L.

Here's the problem - after two fresh installs, Windows 7 drops the DVD/CD drive and I get the following error in Device Manager (The device cannot start {code 10}). After the install, the drive works for a period of time, then stops working and I get the error code.

The driver appears to be a standard Windows driver (CD-ROM driver).

I've tried uninstalling the drive and re-installing it in Device Manager but it does not work - I continue to get the device error.

I've also swapped out the DVD/CD drive to insure it's not a bad unit. Same problem with both drives.

What do you suggest for next steps?? Could it be an issue with the motherboard?? A driver problem?

I visited the Pioneer web site - could not find any help or additional Windows 7 drivers.

What now??
