Hi, this gonna be a bit long but here is a thing I want to know. Recently I've updated to the latest windows 10 build i.e v1903 build 18362.449 and after that whenever I reboot my PC after a while, on startup the browser window will open with this url msftconnecttest.com/redirect which will lead me to my ISP's login page. Okay here is a short detail how I access internet, my internet is a wired broadband directly connected to my PC (no router at the moment) and I need to type my user details on the login page of my ISP in the browser to access internet. I researched a bit and everywhere it said that

msftconnecttest.com is part of Window's NCSI feature where it checks the machine for the availability of internet during startup and will open the captive portal(in my case my ISP's login page) if needed to access the internet. But the thing is till my last windows build which was 18362.295 this behavior of browser opening on startup wasn't there. It's started happening after updating to 18362.449. So my question, is this a normal behavior I am seeing or Is there something I need to be worried about ? And if it's normal then why it started after updating and was not there before ? Did the update trigger this behavior ?

Things I have tried to resolve this
    1. Resetting network
    2. Reinstall network drivers

    3. Tried disabling active probing from regedit (this one works but the network status icon always said no internet even when internet was there and everything worked fine so I reverted it back).

    4. Disabling windows firewall

    5. Tried all browsers it's happening in all of them

I just need some information on this behavior and if it's totally normal or not, thank you in advance msftconnecttest.com/redirect :)

    :)

  2. msftconnecttest redirect not working on windows 10 public wifi

Seems odd that I can get onto the login page on my iphone (which apparently does not use msftconnecttest as an interim step, but not the laptop.

Can I bypass this msftconnecttest step manually?

  3. msftconnecttest redirect not working on windows 10 public wifi

I'm not trying to use VPN, but one of the previous "tips" for resolving this issue did include making a change to the VPN site. I'm just trying to connect through regular wifi to the internet.

What happens is I choose the public connection (with the little exclamation point next to the wifi symbol), and it will say "connected" but there is no internet because of this msftconnecttest not reaching the website to use the login code.

msftconnecttest redirect not working on windows 10 public wifi

    Hi

I have been having problems with public wifi on my laptop since last Nov. Running windows 10.

Every time I try to connect to internet with a restricted site (ie requiring a login/password) browser opens to
    msftconnecttest://redirect

and never goes any further - get stuck in this loop. It has been an issue since a windows 10 update sometime in fall 2017.

    I have tried:

changing default browser from edge to IE, (even tried googlechrome)

reseting internet options (internet options ->advanced-> reset (but not to factory settings to delete all my personal home pages ect)

    fiddling with the VPN settings

None of these seem to work.

Only way I can connect is to use a personal hotspot.

Why is this an ongoing issue?

Please provide a solution that I can copy/paste into a word or text doc that I can post on my desktop so I can remember this again when I travel next time.
