Windows 10: MSI desktop gets to the boot screen and doesn't load, shuts down

MSI desktop gets to the boot screen and doesn't load, shuts down after 15 seconds... sometimes nothing will appear on the monitor...

Windows 10 Waking Up From Sleep/Booting Up/Shutting Down Problem

Lately, Windows 10 has been some problem. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes when I boot up the computer and I enter my password to login, the desktop just hangs there, a few applications get loaded (just some of the start-up ones) and then
it freezes there. You try to click and open up a web-browser, nothing comes up; you try to drag a box to highlight multiple icons on the desktop, nothing shows up and so on and so forth. This happens sometimes when I boot up like I just said and wake up from
sleep. Also, sometimes shutting down Windows 10 takes a really long time or sometimes it doesn't even shut down at all and it just stalls at the screen where it says "Shutting Down" and the circle just keeps on spinning. I never had this type of problem before
and it's only been happening just recently maybe 1 or 2 weeks now.

 

cant login in or get onto desktop. stuck on lock screen. HELP!

on my laptop everytime my computer loads up it goes to the lock screen with the date and time but when i click to sign in. it goes to the sign in page for a quick second and loops back to the lock screen so i cant even get onto my desktop and i have
to hard shut down everytime and safe boot isnt working the screen will go black.

 

Does it fail at the BIOS boot screen or Windows startup screen?

If the former, then first try replacing the CMOS battery, reset the CMOS and load the BIOS defaults.

 

Starts up, then shuts down, sounds like the GPU is overheating.

 

I let it sit turned off overnight.... Still same results

 

Have you been overclocking your GPU, and telling the software to run it at boot?(like you can with Afterburner?
Is it possible the OC was to high, and just crashes Windows at boot, or maybe just no graphics?

 

No over clocking that I know of

 

If is has an external GPU then try removing and startup.

 

I think the nvidia guys fried

 

I'll buy a new one and see what happens. .. then start saving to do a threadripper build

 

Does your motherboard have an embedded Intel GPU? If so, remove the NVidia GPU and see if you can boot using the embedded GPU. That will confirm if the NVidia GPU is suspect. Also, check the separate power cables to the NVidia GPU are secure. There is a trick of baking faulty GPUs in the oven which might just rescue a dodgy GPU.
