Windows 10: MSI G271CQP 1440p 165 hrtz Monitor Is running at 3840 x2160 120 hrtz and I cant get it to...

My monitor was running fine a week or so ago last time a checked 2560x 1440p 165 hrtz, but now the active display mode is running at 3840 x 2160 at 120 hrtz, I have tried messing with monitor setting with no luck, I have went into the properties and tried to find the resolution manually and there is no 2560x 1440p 165 hrtz in there for some reason. The display port cable is the same as when a purchased the monitor and it has been reinserted. New Gpu drivers have been installed. NVIDIA control panel shows the same thing even if i try to make custom resolution it does not work.I actually manuall

3840 x2160 resolution but no 3440 x 1440

The aspect ratio ('dimensions') of your monitor [3440 x 1440 = 2.39] is different from the aspect ratio of the signal that your graphics card can send [3840 x2160 = 1.78]. As a result, the image on your monitor will be letter-boxed (black bars on the top and bottom) or pillar-boxed (black bars on the side). This can't be helped because the dimensions of the two are different.

You can make the image fill the screen, but that means either squeezing or stretching the image to make it fit.

 

3840 x2160 resolution but no 3440 x 1440

I have a new 34 inch screen ultrawide and would like to connect my laptop to it. I would like to have 3440x1440 resolution but the max resolution is 3840 x2160 but no proposal for 3440 x 1440. What should I do?

 

Windows 7 x64 RTM 59Hz issue

59 hrtz and 60 hrtz are the same it just depends what country you reside in, eg in AU HDTV is broadcast in 59hrtz hence most TVs will do 59 or 60 or just 59, 100 hrtz tvs are really 50htz, I wouldnt worry your monitor is running as it should.
