Windows 10: MSI laptop HDD disk running at 100%

Hi I'm having a performance issue with my laptop, I did a complete wipe so there's no files on the laptop but the laptop is still painfully slow, it takes over 5 mins for it to boot up. The disk is running at 100 but there's no files, I've done disk clean ups and anti virus and it's still nothing. It's running on windows 11 but it's been this way since windows 10 if not a tad worse. Really desperate for a fix, I have a feeling that I'm just going to have to get it a new HDD up upgrade it to a SSD.

MSI laptop HDD disk running at 100%

Hi people,

I have a MSI gaming laptop on windows 11, for a while it has been running at 100 HDD disk no matter what I do. I have done a soft reset to wipe my computer of everything but my personal files which are all on the OneDrive anyway. So nothing is being stored on the device itself.

I have wiped it, reset it, updated drivers and done countless of disk and antivirus scans. I've followed multiple guides and it still running at 100. I've tried everything I know of and it's performance is slow. I'm considering either replacing the HDD or adding a SSD but I don't want it to come to that.

If anyone has any ideas please help as it's frustrating me.

Hi people,

I have been struggling for months trying to get my laptop running faster, the disk is stuck at 100%. I've done a hard reset so there is nothing on it and it's still saying 100, I've run antivirus, updated drivers, and ran it through multiple disk scans and they all say it's fine. It's not, it's a gaming laptop and it runs so slow and it's really annoying to spend hours trying to fix and nothing is getting the risk down. I was hoping if there was any advice as I have already followed a few guides already on here and nothing is working. I might have to buy a new hard drive but I really don't want it to come to that.

Disk Usage at 100% with nothing running

My PC is running Windows 10 with the latest updates but has suddenly become unusable with disk usage staying at 100% even with nothing running and just the same processes listed in Task Manager as before the problems
started. I've tried a few suggestions found in online forums - disabling Windows Search and Superfetch, adjusting page file size, etc. but nothing has done the trick yet. I don't have any outside anti-virus software installed. I read about the potential MSI
issue but don't have IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers listed in the Device Manager. Finally, it seems to boot up normally and will have periods where the disk usage drops and it's usable but those moments are brief and it inevitably goes back up to 100% usage.
