    MsMpEng.exe using all the RAM available


    We have 4 Windows Server 2019 Std, all with the same simple setup running IIS & SQL Server, all with 64GB RAM; MsMpEng would normally take 200-300MB of RAM and almost no CPU but starting from today in one of the servers the MsMpEng RAM usage grows constantly up to using it all; at that stage IIS starts failing and our web applications crash one after the other, SQL Server reports memory issues, can barely access RDP to restart...The only solution is to reboot the server, luckily in less than 2min all the web apps are avialable again but after 4-5 hours, free memory gone and I have to reboo

    MSMPENG eating too much RAM again when I tried to disable scheduled scan.

    Hi, before adding DisableAntiSpyware and setting value to 1 on Windows Defender, it still eats RAM.

    After adding DisableAntiSpyware and setting value to 1 on Windows Defender, if I restart, Does MsMpEng stop eating RAM? How to disable scheduled scan in Windows Defender? The cause that MsMpEng eats too much RAM is the background scan.

    That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

    At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

    Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin MsMpEng.exe using all the RAM available :D
