Windows 10: MSMPI Install Error

I'm running an up-to-date version of Windows 10 and am trying to install Microsoft MPI v7.1 because it's a critical component to run a third-party software package that I need to use and have successfully run previously on another machine.

I tried to install (MSMpiSetup.exe) from the .exe file that I downloaded directlty from https://www.microsoft.com/en-. When I attempt to load the software, I immediately get this error "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a calid Windows Installer package." followed by this message "MS-MPI Installation failed with error code 1619."

I have tried disabling my antivirus software, turning off the Windows firewall, and running the .exe file from powershell as administrator. None of these attempted solutions have worked. I have also tried running the "msmpisdk.msi" file; that appeared to work, but when I ran the software, I got this error "Windows cannot find 'mpiexec'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

Please advise as to how else I might solve this problem.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
