Windows 10: MSVCRT.DLL may need to be reinstalled message.

The windows 10 PC for a relative only today started to give this error message whenever I try to open a PDF, word file - basically any file Excluding applications like browsers and antivirus.I have tried to scan the computer with the anti-virus software and I attempted a system restore sadly there was no restore point.The error does not say msvcrt.dll is missing, only that reinstalling may solve the issue; however other sites I've gone to have advised against downloading from the direct site.If anyone knows a way to help me solve this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The problem is, that the required DLL is not actually even listed there.
There are just dozens of download adware links from the top to the bottom.
