Windows 10: Muffled Audio While a Game is Open

I am having the issue of low sound quality in my Airpods Pro when I open up a steam game, for example Black Ops 6. When I open it it seems to just be really low quality and/or muffled, I've tried to fix it by editing and looking for all the sound properties in-game and in windows, and nothing seems to work. I do not have speakers in my actual computer, thats why I use headphones all the time. Any suggestions or help?

All my audio sounds muffled when some games are open

For some reason my audio sounds muffled when I open games such as Halo Infinite, and GTA 5, and I'm not sure what the problem is, I can't find any sound settings in the game that fix it, it's also not just game audio it's all of my computer's audio, but only when those games are open, and I've tried reinstalling audio drivers multiple times. I'm using raycon wireless earbuds connected via bluetooth but I cant find any bluetooth related settings that fix it.

 

Game Capture Audio Issue: Choppy, Muffled Audio

Thanks for your response. I will say that you identified my problem partially, but it is not tied just to OBS. Any application (not just OBS) where I can pull from a capture card is giving me bad audio (i.e. Audacity, even Xbox Game Bar). I tried a screen recording from Xbox Game Bar (linked here). I don't think it's possible for me to get a capture card visual, but I was able to set the audio input to the capture card and that is all we're trying to test. Unfortunately, I still got choppy, muffled audio that is dropping every second or so. I'm guessing this suggests that the issue is a Windows driver of some kind that helps the computer run capture cards?

I understand that you're having problems with muffled audio. Sorry to hear that.

It might just be the computer audio driver. Try these steps:

1. Win + R to open the run box

2. Type: devmgmt.msc <Enter>

3. Look for "Sound, video, and game controllers" and then expand it by clicking the ">" on the left

4. Right-click each driver and select "Uninstall". Do it to all drivers you see under it

5. Restart the computer. The restart will reinstall these drivers back automatically.

6. Test again
