    multi boot splash page control

    Hi,
I would like to better control the boot screens for multi boot windows. If I remain in windows 10 then I get the new boot loader page, if I choose win7 then I get redirected to win7 boot loader page. Can I keep just one page to select from?
    Thanks,
    Keith

  2. How do I stop background themes from scrolling

That's correct: the new Personalize page uses a *folder* picker not a multi-select file picker like the old UI does. You just select your folder and go.

If you want the old multi-select file picker interface, you can get to that via:

    control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper

    from a WIN+R Run prompt.

  3. N810 will not boot

I already did the removal of the battery (which is fully charged)because of a post on another discussion. This had no effect and it continues to only get to the Nokia splash screen.

I suspect you have both windows on separate disks and you are choosing from BIOS options.
I'm doing it with 3 disks and 3 OSs. I installed EasyBCD 2.3 Download - TechSpot on disk0 and made a unified boot menu with it, quite easy.

    CountMike,

I have always thought that Microsoft requires that Windows partitions be located on Drive 0 (or Drive 1 if that is the first drive number). *Think

If I understand you correctly, then I can have Windows installed on 2 or more different drives on my system, and EasyBCD will find them. And when I restart my system, the EasyBCD menu will include all of those Windows partitions. If this is true, then Woohoo. *Party

And without playing around in the BIOS with selecting the right boot drive???

Add to that the fact that EasyBCD will boot non-Windows partitions, and I could be one very happy camper.

There are several factors that define BOOT order.
On the MB you can have several SATA ports. For instance SATA3_0, SATA3_1 etc. Some even SATA2_0, eSATA3_0 etc. Left at default BIOS would choose device at SATA3_0 as first BOOT device and subsequently others if nothing found on first. Which one is first can be defined in BIOS. If you have several disks with BOOT sector you can chose which OS to BOOT from.
Other way would be to install a menu on a disk/OS that is defined by BIOS to be first BOOT device and let it BOOT from it. Menu will let you chose any other OS located on other disk(s).
There are several ways to make that menu, one of them (and I think easiest and with many options) is EasyBCD, It's not automatic but easy to use, just choose which other system you want to add to boot menu and on which physical disk it's located. You can change name of it, time to display etc. There's good help and manual for it, no rocket science. Easier and safer than to manually enter and change windows BCD, hence the name EASY bcd.
It's only important to install it and set it on windows located on first to boot disk defined in the BIOS and keep on using it in that configuration. Although.... you can do it on second disk/windows too so even if you change BOOT order in BIOS you still get a menu.

    Mike,

Thanks. I gave you a Thumbs Up for this answer. EasyBCD is my way forward. (Not trying to get into "religious" debates about multi-booting vs. VMs here.) Several years ago, I was experimenting with a number of multi-boot products and they are just over-complicated. EasyBCD sounds so much easier. With booting non-Windows systems and booting from multiple disks, it's exactly what I need.

    multi boot splash page control

Hi, Thanks for your responses, I used easybcd to change boot names for this pc. What occurs is that I see 2 boot screens on boot: win10 and win 7 boot loader if re-booting from win10. If re-booting from win7 to win7 I get just win7 boot loader. Why do I need to see 2 boot screens for win 10?. Win10 upgrade of win7 located on sda1, win7 on sda2, and rafaela on sda3. I also go through 2 boot sceeens for the mint boot but I expect same.
There was was a way to alter win7 boot screen using key strokes on boot which toggled between stretch and not anyone know what those keys are?
    Thanks,
    Keith

You need to install it and use it on both disks if you want to change order thru BIOS.
