Windows 10: Multi Finger Taps and Swipes not working

Bought a used Spectre x360 and wasn't happy with the Synaptics touchpad as it wasn't familiar and didn't have the two finger swipe to go back functionality. It would only scroll the web page left or right. So after pretty extensive Googling, I downloaded and installed the Precision drivers for my touchpad. After some more tinkering, The drivers seem to be up to date verified as Win10 said so in the Device Manager. Still, the following swipes and taps don't work:

- two finger swipe for page navigation doesn't work.

- three finger tap doesn't work as I would like. To clarify, I want to change my three finger tap to middle click instead of search, and after changing it in the dropdown menu in the trackpad settings, it still performs the default function.

- four finger tap is the same issue as the three finger tap.


As far as I can tell, two finger tap works as it should right click tapping twice and holding can still select multiple things or move windows around, three finger swipe up, down, left and right work, same with four finger up, down, left, and right. It seems like the three finger and four finger tap functions are stuck in their default options and can't be changed. Everywhere I've looked so far has lead me to believe I'm stuck with this configuration and settings because the drivers aren't available or can't be found. Help?

The 3 finger gesture not working properly in my inspiron 3558 windows 10.

it was working properly initially, I run the diagnostic test for touchpad, after that its not working as described.

3 finger swipe up opens cortana -instead of task switch, and swipe down opens settings instead of desktop.

Thank you. Let me clarify because my original statement was poorly worded and confusing.

I would like the standard Windows 10 setup when it comes to trackpad tapping and multi finger gestures.

These are the current problems

three finger swiping left and right don't do anything

Three finger swiping down opens settings but it should minimize all windows

Three finger swiping up opens Cortana but it should be task switch

Everything else works correctly and all the settings in my Dell Pointing devices are correct.
