    Hello. I recently had a problem where steam wouldn't connect online. I cleared out the steam cache, restarted the PC and after doing that Steam and suddenly Discord won't connect.I tried other apps. EA's and Ubisoft's launchers connect to the internet just fine. GOG won't.I haven't updated windows in a while because it asks for an amount of disk space I simply Cannot make available and it will not let me use an external. Upon all these issues starting suddenly windows update seems to no longer be able to connect as the download permanently hangs at zero percent.I have googled the problem I am

    Throttled download speeds for steam/gog.

    I recently bought a new pc running windows 11 (specs below).

    I'm facing throttled download speeds for certain applications and I can't figure out why.

    Speedtest is giving me 150Mbps down (max from my provider).

    This speed seems to also be active when downloading windows/driver updates.

    When downloading anything from steam/gog (maybe other things, haven't tested a lot), the download speeds seems to be limited to 10Mbps (in app + performance tab in task manager).

    Things I have checked:

    • I never had this issue with my previous pc using the same cable/switch/router.
    • I have switched cables, connected to the router itself.
    • I have checked the settings in steam/gog, no throttling active there.
    • I have reïnstalled windows multiple times.
    • I have reïnstalled gog/steam multiple times.
    • I have tried a few network adapter drivers.

    Drivers:

    Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller 1125.16.1121.2023

    Specs:

    AMD RYZEN 7 7800 X3D PROCESSOR

    THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF A3 750 WATT 80 GOLD

    Gaming Site Question, Steam or GOG?.

    GoG games a drm free whereas Steam are so GOG wins there. GoG games often have fixes available for problem games. These can be resolution fixes/upgrades to OS compatibility fixes. The GoG version of some games are the full games whereas the Steam version either doesn’t work well or has been edited. An example is the old PS1 Dracula game, the Steam version omits several points in the game whereas the GoG version has these. Both Steam & GoG have regular sales.

    Gaming Site Question, Steam or GOG?.

    I purchase my games from GOG whenever they are available there because of their "DRM-free" model which is why you can get offline installers without needing to be connected to the internet to verify the purchase. *Smile I am also digging their game launcher which is GOG Galaxy (optional):
