Windows 10: Multiple Chrome Instances Showing Up in ALT + TAB window.

Getting multiple instances of chrome in ALT + TAB. This issue usually occurs after using Full Screen. The windows instance still stays there even after it is closed. Version: Windows 11 Version 21H2 OS Build 22000.856Thank you,

Windows 11: Alt+Tab with multiple Chrome windows open

I have the following windows open in a Windows 11 desktop:

• 3 Google Chrome windows (one with two tabs)
  
• 1 Excel 2010 window (with 3 workbooks open)
  
• 1 Windows Explorer window
  
• 1 Adobe Acrobat window (1 document tab open)
  

The focus is on the Excel window.

I press Alt+Tab.

This brings 1 of the Chrome windows into focus

I press Alt+Tab.

This should bring the Excel window back into focus?

It does not!

This brings the 2nd Chrome window into focus.

To get the Excel window back into focus, I have to Alt+Tab 4 times, "past" the 3 Chrome windows and the Acrobat window.

****?

Please tell me this is a defect that is going to be fixed soon and not some new behavior?

 

Batch file to launch multiple instances of the Chrome browser, each instance with unique tabs to websites

I searched the Internet quite a bit, thinking someone else wanted to do this, or had a batch already written for this scenario, but my searches came up with nothing. Hopefully I'm not duplicating someone else.

There are a couple of different batch files out there that will launch a single instance of the browser, with multiple tabs opening to various different websites. They are simplistic and straight-forward.

However, I wanted to launch multiple instances of the Chrome browser, each instance with its own unique group of tabs to websites. The way the currently existing batch files are written, they don't work, they need significant tweaking. Here is an example
of how to do this:

start chrome www.aol.com

This launches three instances of Chrome: one instance has tabs open to microsoft and aol, the second has tabs open to nbcnews, etc.

Note that this does not work for Internet Explorer. I've already verified. Perhaps there is a way to do it with IE, maybe someone else can figure it out. I haven't tested with other browsers.

• What type of Windows license are you using? (Windows Home, Pro or Enterprise)

I understand that you do have trouble with your Alt + Tab key in your Windows 11 OS. Let me go ahead and assist you.

Actually, In order for you to go back to Excel as your main focus you need to close the other Windows for Chrome. Instead of opening different Windows for Chrome why not creating a tabs so that you will be having one Window for Chrome and it would be easier to switch back to main focus and that is your Excel Window.
