  1. Multiple event errors since 07/09 involving random restarts after booting

After installing the latest smaller patch the September 2020 cumulative update my system failed to install the version 2004 Win10 update.

Since that date, I've had no less than four random restarts to the system with non-specific errors such as 10016, but several services have reported being unable to start or update. I've run a chkdsk which reported no errors.

I can also provide DMP files of the last set of issues but I'm concerned about this being a continuing issue and if I need to simply create a restore point to avoid it.

    Any and all help appreciated.

    :)

Random Restarts & Several Error in Event Viewer

Ok, I am not getting the random restarts, but I'm still getting this error, the system hangs for a minute, and then I have this same entry as above in the Event Log:

    • Event ID 10016 DCom error: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276} to the user
Lisa-PC\Lisa SID (S-1-5-21-3540830520-2184614384-255477038-1000) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Would a full wipe & reinstall of Windows fix this?

Edit: And it does say the username Lisa, even though I'm using the TEST account.

Nevermind, as soon as I submit this post, the random restarts came back. Can't even get to desktop now

  3. Random Restarts & Several Error in Event Viewer

    Hi Shaina,

User profile corruption could be a possible reason why you are experiencing unexpected restarts on your computer. For initial troubleshooting, we suggest creating a test user profile and then check if will encounter sudden restarts. This is for us to verify
if the issue is isolated with one user profile or with multiple accounts.

To create a test user profile, follow these steps:

    • Using Cortana search, type Settings and then hit the Enter key.
    • In the Settings window, select Accounts.
    • Select Family & other people.
    • Choose Add someone else to this PC.
    • Click I don't have this person's sign-in information.
    • Click Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    • Name the user as TEST and then provide a password.

    Update us about the results.
