    High CPU Usage Problem

    Hello,

SvcHost.exe is a system process that hosts multiple Windows services in Windows Operating Systems. If there are multiple instances of svchost.exe in Task Manager, it could be that there are multiple third-party applications that are running in the background
    services.

As a first troubleshooting step, we suggest that you boot your device in Safe Mode and see if you are still getting a high CPU usage. You may follow the steps here on this
link to start your PC in Safe Mode.

Keep us updated with the results.

Explorer.exe multiple instances and high CPU usage

On a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro (22H2) on an Intel B560 system running a 10850k paired with an Nvidia 1080 Ti, Windows Explorer still seems to be experiencing a "bug" that causes explorer to launch a separate process every so often that ramps up my CPU fan and puts my CPU under about a 20-30% load. I have the November 29, 2022—KB5020044 (OS Build 22621.900) Preview package installed, which, according to release notes...

"It addresses an issue that sometimes affects File Explorer when you open a file. Because of this issue, there is high CPU usage."

However, this issue occurs even when not actively interacting with File Explorer. I have poked and prodded trying to re-create the exact set of circumstances that causes the issue, but I can't seem to replicate it through my attempts. It presents as something totally random. Sometimes it happens when I'm just sitting at the desktop. Sometimes when I am actively moving files around in explorer. Sometimes when I'm in the middle of playing a game.

It's gotten to the point that I just leave the task manager open so I can kill the duplicate process when it starts up. I'm killing this process on average once every hour or two. Coming from Windows 10 this was never an issue on an OS install that was several years old. When I installed Windows 11 I formatted the hard drive, cleared partitions and made a completely fresh installation. Updated drivers, all that good stuff. This is a bug that happens right out of the box and from my google searches it seems to have been around for a while. This really needs to be resolved.

Windows Explorer high CPU Usage in Windows 10

To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest checking the Task Manager again to see what are the
applications that have high CPU usage. To do this, follow the same steps you did from the previous reply:

    • Click on the Start button and type Task Manager on the search box.
    • On the Task Manager window, you should see the programs running.
    • Click on the More details drop-down button to see the total number of apps running and their real-time CPU usage.

However, based on your response above, it seems that you may need to create a new user account again and just install your apps manually instead of copying them as your
previous user account might be corrupted.

Once your done with the steps, please let us know how it goes.
