    Hi;

I'm having the following issues. While I'm not sure they're all tied together or not, they all started happening around the same time:

-I am unable to quick change accounts anymore. My computer used to have two other accounts listed on the bottom left at sign in as well as the default account, however these have disappeared with the option to sign in. The accounts are still available to sign into; however, you have to sign out of one account fully and enter the Microsoft account details to log into another. PIN usage is only available after you log in.

-'Task Manager has been disabled by the administrator' This wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't the administrator. I've also never disabled task manager. Even going into /system32 and attempting to open with the .exe is fruitless

-Ctrl-Alt-Del only has the option to lock the computer, nothing else.

-'There are currently no other power options available' when trying to shut down/restart from the Start Menu. In order to shut down or restart, I have to lock the computer and use the power button on the log in screen.

These are the only issues I'm having so far but I'm sure there are others. The computer runs great otherwise, however this is a big issue as this is the computer my son games on, as well as the one I use to do my schoolwork. It's a pain in the neck to have to save everything when he gets on.

    :)

    Credentials for Task Manager

Task manager in Windows 10 is not the same thing as Task manager for Windows 7 & earlier.

    • You can, for example, alter Startup items that you used to use MSConfig for in earlier Windows versions.

    • If you are logged in to an Admin user account, Task manager in Windows 10 always challenges for Admin permission when it starts.
    • If you are logged in to a Standard user account, Task manager in Windows 10 will open without any Admin challenge.

    • If you are logged in to an Admin user account, Task manager in Windows 10 will allow you to alter entries in the Start-up tab such as disabling an item.
    • If you are logged in to a Standard user account, Task manager in Windows 10 will only allow you to alter entries in the Start-up tab that affect that user account only. If you try to alter an item that affects other users, the disable command is greyed
      out.

  3. Issues while accessing Task Manager and Registry Error: Disabled by Administrator

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues while accessing Task Manager and Registry on your PC. For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below:

    1. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?
    2. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?
    3. Are you connected to Domain/organization network?
    4. What is the exact error message that you receive?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try enabling built-in administrator account and see if you are able to access Task Manager and Registry. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Now press Windows +
S key together to open Search.
    2. Now type CMD and select Run as administrator.
    3. Accept the UAC prompts.
    4. Type in the following command and hit Enter:

      net user administrator /active:yes

If you are able to access Task Manager and Registry in built-in administrator, then create a new user account using built-in administrator and check if you are still able to access Task Manager and Registry. Refer the article
Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

Let us know how it goes.

Help enabling Task Manager users on Server 2012 R2

    Hi,

I need some help here, the company I work at is hosting a Windows 2012 R2 Standard Server for one of our customers, but I have trouble enabling Task manager for the users, I have check the Group Polices on the server and nuth that has anything with "Remove Task Manager" is configured so they should be able to use it, but they get this when trying to start the task manager:

Multiple issues User signin, Task Manager disabled, etc. see post image-png.png

When I look at the policy called "Remove Task Manager" it says:

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users can access Task Manager to start and stop programs, monitor the performance of their computers, view and monitor all programs running on their computers, including system services, find the executable names of programs, and change the priority of the process in which programs run.

and from this i take if i set it to "disable" or "not configure" users should be able to use the task manager but they ain't, anyone have a solution for this problem?
