  1. multiple monitors taskbar issues

I have three monitors, for the longest time, the second monitor (Not the main monitor, Monitor one) Has for some reason had the main task bar lock to it, meaning the task bar with the main icons, clock, etc on it. Its been like this for as long as I can remember, then suddenly today the main task bar moved down to my 3rd monitor, my cintiq, I don't know what caused this exactly. I noticed it after playing a game which went full screen after I exited the game and assume it may have effected it but this has never happened before with other full screen programs. at anyway now that I know moving the main task bar is possible, I would like to move it off the cintiq, preferably to monitor one, AT LEAST return it to monitor two.

    :)

  2. How to show video clips on my schools projector in extend mode?

Taskbar is now shown on all monitors by default. With multiple monitors attached, Windows 10 will draw the taskbar across each monitor. By default, all taskbar icons are displayed on the main monitor and a blank taskbar on the other monitors. To configure
the taskbar for multiple monitors using Taskbar Properties:

Open Start > Settings > Personalization > Taskbar

Under Multiple display, toggle 'Show taskbar on all displays.

Windows 10 brings taskbar on top of fullscreen-windows after Anniversary Update

I have this issue as well, using multiple monitors i find if i turn Show taskbar on multiple monitors off then back on it fixes the issue. At the very least, it will prevent people needing to restart maybe?

Settings > System > Display. Click the one you want your main taskbar on. Then click the check box for make this my main display at the bottom, and click apply.

  5. Thank you Alphanumeric, but I tried that already. The main display is already monitor 1, the main task bar is on monitor 3.

Alpha beat me by a minute, and if you are using third party software to manage your windows, you may have to set there instead.

Try looking in taskbar properties as well. I'm not at my triple mon setup right now, but will look at mine later today ...

  7. No third party software, searched all over task bar properties, unless its got a weird name I cant find anything to affect change.

If you right click the taskbar and go to properties there are more options for multi displays.

  9. I have looked over that window and tried multiple functions, none had the desired effect. Is there a specific one that should be doing what I want and am just missing it?

I'll try to look at my setup later today and get back to you.

My setup is a Triple head to go unit, makes my three into one large monitor though.

Your three are on one video card and you were extending the desktop, correct?

alpha already posted the taskbar props, however if you are extending the monitors, the buttons will get rid of all but start and desktop, I think you likely had show on all unchecked and are just dealing with a main taskbar placement on one of the monitors. If wrong, tell me.

Now here's a thought, you have three monitors, and you have a main with taskbar, but not in position you want, how is the mouse movement through each?

I'm wondering if windows somehow re-arranged the monitor placement on you.

  11. If you remove the checkmark for show taskbar on all displays, you can move it to any monitor you want. Requardless of which one is set as main display. If it's locked though, you can't move it anywhere. Right click the taskbar and make sure, Lock the taskbar is unchecked.

I thought a picture would help explain this better. in the display settings the monitors labelled 1 2 3, I have referred to as 3 1 2. (Maybe this is the problem as the one labelled 1 has the main task bar, but the number from what I've been able to tell is self selected and unchangeable) in the picture monitor 2 is set to the main display but the main task bar is set to monitor 1. the task bar was originally on monitor 3.

Edit: I want a task bar on all monitors, not one task bar on just one of them.

Yeah, I have mine set to only show all icons on my main display. I launch everything from there anyway. On my other two displays only programs/Apps running on that display show an ICON. Other than the Start and Cortana that is, they show on all taskbars. It works for me. My Apps and programs remember what monitor they were last opened on, they launch to different screens even when launched from my main taskbar.

  14. Remove the check mark in the box for Lock the taskbar. *Wink Then you "should" be able to move it to the monitor you want it on.

First, what Alpha posted, if set to all displays, you cant move it:

If you remove the checkmark for show taskbar on all displays, you can move it to any monitor you want. Requardless of which one is set as main display. If it's locked though, you can't move it anywhere. Right click the taskbar and make sure, Lock the taskbar is unchecked.
