Windows 10: Multiple programs not opening and cannot upgrade my Windows 10 version 1803 to latest version

It all started few days ago . My desktop was contiunously refreshing . I saw a video and stopped 2 services from running. Then it stopped refreshing. But was not able to open file explorer . Thought it was due to some update error and tried to update windows after disc cleanupdidnt have storage space . It will download, install but when i restart it to 'undoing changes' and the update fails. And many of my programs like eclipse, appium etc are not opening.But few others are opening .Images like png and jpg images are not opening and throwing file error .And File explorer is also opening now


Tried using troubleshooter ,that is also throwing error. Tried sfc /scannow in cmd prompt, after 98% it stops and doesnt work either .Tried in safe mode too.But that didnt help either.


Can you tell me what is wrong with my system? Did i delete some important files ? :-


Will Upgrade using Windows ISO solve this problem? I downloaded the tool.But when i run , it tells me to free up space. How much space is needed to run this? ALso if i choose ISO file option, should i burn it to advd and then only use it to install on my pc? I have a Surface Pro with Edition: Windows 10 Pro Version: 1803 OS Build: 17134.950

Unable to update Windows 10 Pro version 1709 to 1803

Have made several attempts to update Windows 10 version 1709 to the latest version 1803 and have not been successful.

I've done the following per some suggestions found online:

• Updated drivers
• Ran the Trouble Shooter for Windows 10 (Errors found were shown to be "Fixed" per the tool)
• Unplugged the printer

Although not at every attempt, I have received the following errors:

• 0xc1900101
• 0x80070643

Can someone please advise me as to what the errors are and provide me with the steps to update Windows.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

The Windows Welcome experience will only be shown after installation of updates and occasionally when you sign in to highlight what's new and suggested by design. For more information about the new features and content of Windows 10 1803, please refer to

Also, make sure that the Windows welcome experience is enabled on your PC. Follow the steps below:

1. Open Settings > System > Notifications & actions.
2. Under Notifications, toggle the switch On "Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what's new and suggested".
