Multiple programs won't connect to internet despite internet working fine with everything else

I was forced to upgrade to windows 11 due to a software issue, and now I find myself unable to use multiple programs due to the programs not being able to connect to the internet. It also seems as if windows 11 can't detect my internet connection, as I can't do any windows updates, and on the home page of settings it reads "Not Connected Offline".I've tried ethernet and wi-fi, nothing changes.Would it be better to do a clean install of Windows 11?

    :)

Programs having connectivity issues despite internet connection and ability to use browser.

Many programs are having connectivity issues despite the fact that my internet connection is solid. I can browse the internet, but most programs are unable to connect to servers directly. This includes certain Microsoft programs. most error messages I receive indicate that the programs cannot connect to server and recommend troubleshooting my connectivity. It is worth noting that this is a new to me PC (used) to which I have added my old PC's hard drives.

The computer is an Asus ROG Strix windows 11.

I have contacted Microsoft support. The agent believed it was a problem with the individual programs. However, the list of programs that are having this problem continues to grow. It is primarily game launchers that have the issue.

    Steps I have taken:

    Internet connections troubleshooted

    Updated network adapters

    Reset network settings

Tried both ethernet cable and wifi

    Run programs as administrator

    Reinstalled programs multiple times

changed firewall settings and antivirus settings

    reviewed router settings

ran the following in command prompt, line by line: netsh int ip reset | netsh advfirewall reset | netsh winsock reset | ipconfig /flushdns | ipconfig /release | ipconfig /renew.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

    Try the following steps:

I would suggest you to run Internet Connectivity troubleshooter:

    Try the following steps:

    • Click "Search" and type "Troubleshooting" without quotes and hit enter.

    • Click “View All”

    • Select "Internet Explorer connection"

    • Click next to run the troubleshooter.

Multiple programs won't connect to internet despite internet working fine with everything else

    Multiple Internet Connections

ok, now I know this has been around for a long time. I have been reading for quite some time trying to find a way to aggregate my internet connections. So I understand the capabilities and limitations.

My question is , if I have two nics in my pc and two separate connections with separate gateways, etc - will opening multiple downloads. (in firefox) , or opening multiple programs, or using a download manager or something that uses multiple connections... will any of those things ever make use of the second connection?

is that only possible with a dual wan router, or a linux box dedicated?

I understand it can't use both connections to download a single file, etc - but when multiple connections are being made, will it ever make use of more than one adapter?

i ask because even though i have not implemented any such solution - I have two nics(with live isp connections) and have set the metric to use the faster one first - but the speed reported in Steam is much higher than either individual connection should rate....

so what's up? thank you *Smile Multiple programs won't connect to internet despite internet working fine with everything else :)
