Multiple sound devices no longer work (Reinstalled windows, no luck)

A couple of days ago, all my audio outputs stopped working. I have monitor speakers, an Aune X8 DAC, and a Marantz NR1510 AV Receiver.

I tried deleting my audio drivers, didn't work. Reinstalled Windows 10, installed updates, still doesn't work.

I tried plugging in some headphones to my PC Case's Aux port, and they work fine surprisingly, but all the audio outputs I actually use just stopped working.

The AV Receiver also stopped outputting video/audio from my PC to the TV, even though it shows up in the Display settings. This leads me to believe that it might be some sort of hardware issue with my PC.

I would really like to make sure it's not a software issue beacuse my PC has fully custom hard-line water cooling, so swapping out parts is a huge hassle.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I've been troubleshooting all night, and am getting desperate (I've never posted on forums before). Thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows sound issue: no playback devices, drivers good!

If you haven't yet, maybe try this:

Boot into safe mode and go into device manager. Right click on and uninstall each of the following (If present):
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Video Capture Drivers
    Media Control Devices
    Audio Controller
    Video Codecs
and anything else that my be listed under sound devices. Also click on "View", "Show hidden devices" and see if there are any exclamation marks. If so, uninstall them also and then reboot into normal mode. Windows should detect the devices and automatically reinstall them.

I'd try that before reinstalling just for grins. Reinstalling as you know is a pain in the a*s!*Smile Multiple sound devices no longer work (Reinstalled windows, no luck) :)

  3. Sound doesn't work - but driver won't reinstall

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern, I would suggest you to go to the device manager and check if the sound drivers are installed. If installed please update the drivers and check.

    Step 1:

    • Press Windows key + X.

    • Click on Device Manager, expand “sound, video and game controllers”
and check if any sound drivers are installed.

    • If yes, right click on the driver and hit update.
Or else go the manufacturer website and install the latest driver.

Step 2: Also run hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    • Type Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.

    • Click on Troubleshooting tab.

    • Click on view all option on the upper left corner.

    • Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
    Hope it helps.

    Sound suddenly not working

I've never encountered a problem like this with Windows 7 before. But if your using onboard sound, I'd suggest reinstalling the drivers for it and see what happens.
