my windowns 8 phone shut itself off, how do you get it back on?

Hi There,

Even I am facing the same issue with my fone. I tried the steps mentioned but was not helpful.

Is there any other steps where i can try turn my phone on.

Thanksfully I sorted the login issues yesterday so all good on that front.

I forwarded your message and the only options HP are suggesting are as follows............

Here is the link for the Operating System Cloud Recovery Client : https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp142501-143000/sp142993.exe Please download the Cloud Recovery Client on a USB stick ( >= 32 GB, formatted USB stick) and then plug in the same on this unit to re-install the OS.

1 -> Shut down the HP machine.

2 -> Please insert the USB/DVD Media that you have to reinstall the Operating System.
3 -> Now, power the machine on and keep tapping the Esc Key until you see the Startup Menu.
4 -> In the Startup Menu, you should see an option that says “F9 - Boot Menu/Options”
5 -> Now, click on F9 and look for the Recovery Media/Disk.
6 -> Once done, your Operating System Setup should start, select the language and keyboard settings of your choice.

Customer : Ok but are they correct that this should have been done before I received the laptop back? Would seem to make sense to me

The data loss side wasn't too worry as I use OneDrive/MS365 but on checking out the YouTube video it appears to be suggesting I'm going to lose all my programs and have to reinstall the lot again which is a real pain as I've got a lot of them and it's going to take a long time and I'm working!

Any ideas on a better fix than this? I've asked HP the same but 'conveniently' theit LiveChat is now down!

That system has a Intel Core i3-4010U with Intel HD Graphics 4400

The best version is 1703, anything after that and you would have problems with graphics card and chipset device drivers . . .
