Windows 10: Music files not playing on PC

    Music files not playing on PC


    I bought a new computer with Windows 11. I copied songs from CDs to my desktop and they show type of file as WMP11.AssocFile.cda. Why won't these play on my PC? If I put these songs on a USB will they play in the car? TY for any assistance you can give.

    Unwanted music playing on my PC

    I recently downloaded a file which seems to have contained malware.
    I deleted everything I could find, principally "streptococcus virus". Yes, try Googling a cure for that and all you get is medical stuff.
    Anyway, it had several folders and malwarebytes seemed to have got rid of everything.
    AVG virus scanner didn't find anything.

    The problem I have now is music starts playing, along with adverts for insurance and such. I checked task manager but can't see anything unusual. The music plays for a minute, once per hour, then all is quiet.
    There are no music apps open on my PC.
    I've run malwarebytes and AVG again, both report nothing.

    Can anyone suggest what I might look at, please?

    Music files not playing on TV (or radio)

    For some years I have play music and display photographs stored on an (aging) DLNA compliant NAS via a Panasonic Smart TV (using Viera Tools > Media Server).



    I have now copied my music and photographs to a new Windows 10 PC and have no problems displaying the photographs on the TV.
    However, the music is a different matter. The folders and files are displayed, and the files look ready to play, but they will not play.
    I have been blaming the TV but have just tested playing the music via a portable radio with the same result – the folders and music files display but do not play.




    Any suggestions where the problem lies?

    unable to play mp3 file as music or podcast

    I transfer them from my desktop via usb to the phone memory. They show up in the file explorer list in the phone. I have tried them in the podcast directory and in other folders under music per MS suggestions at

    I have also tried syncing with Windows Media Player. no luck.

    Plays just fine in Windows 8 desktop
