Windows 10: Music on a USB flash drive

I have changed cars and my new car only has usb ports for your music. I have therefore ripped loads of CDs using WMP and created files for all these albums. I then copied these files to the usb stick ready to plug it into my car and enjoy a huge selection of quality listening. However... despite all the album tracks being in number order of the usb, whenever I try and play them it insists on playing the tracks in alphabetical order, rather than the track number order.

I have made sure that all the track numbers are correct on the files and that the track number is in front of the title of the track, but it is still doing it.

Driving me mad!

Hi Nelson,

Check if there is any slide switch on the side that provides write protection. It show's a closed and open lock on each side. We suggest to follow these steps below:

• Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port.
• Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the Search textbox and press Enter.
• Find Disk Drives and expand it.
• Find the USB flash drive you want to format, and double-click it. It opens the
  Properties dialog box.
• Click Policies tab.
• By default, the Optimize for quick removal option selected, switch it to Optimize for performance and then press
  OK.
• Now open Computer. Right click on the USB Flash Drive and select Format. The Format dialog box now appears.
• Select NTFS in the File System field.
• Press Start and wait while the process will be completed.

You can also connect the USB drive on a different computer and try formatting.

However, if you want to transfer music that is already on the Windows 10 PC to an USB flash drive please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Connect the USB to the computer.
   
2. Navigate to the location where you have saved the Music.
   
3. Select the music files that you want to transfer.
   
4. Right click on the selected files and click on
   Copy.
   
5. Now, navigate to the USB drive and click on
   Paste.
