Windows 10: Mute button makes audio fade instead of instantly muting cutting all input on the mic.

I want to be able to mute the mic instantly and not have it fade away for around 0.5s. I know it does this because I can Listen to myself on Sound Settings > More Sound Settings > Listen > "Listen to this device", and of course other people have told me they can still briefly hear me when I mute myself when I'm on a call. Tried a third party program but that also caused the audio to fade instead of muting. Found no option to change this behavior on both Windows && on the third party mic software. I'm pressing the physical mute button on my HyperX device, but even the third

Headset muting audio on receiving Mic input

I actually had this issue with my old headset and thought it was just the headset, but this one worked just fine, I was changing some sound settings to fix some audio lag I was getting, now this headset
does the exact thing the old one did. I can't remember exactly what I changed, but it's weird, it only mutes audio when receiving mic input. I tested it with audacity while listening to music, if I press the record button it mutes my headphones to receive
mic input.

Does anybody know how to fix this? I spent like 60$ on this headset because I thought the issue was the headset! It worked just fine a few days ago, I made phone calls with it. Now it mutes on mic input,
so it kinda defeats the purpose of the headset. I can't make calls or play games because it mutes audio on input.

 

Weird Mic muted icon, mutes mic (Logitech software maybe?)




Having this weird problem. A number of days ago, I started seeing a muted mic icon in both the systray and the upper left corner on my desktop. I'm not sure how I'm triggering this but it mutes the mic and freaks out Voicemeter. I cannot right click or find any options for it. Seems to be related to logioptionsplus_agent.exe Logi Options +Agent. When I kill it in task manager, the icons disappear but I can't get the mic back. Any ideas?

eh, I figured it out. There is a mic mute button on my mx mini keyboard I must have hit. It saves the setting unless you turn it off so when you launch Logi Options it will always be muted. It also really screws up Voicemeter, I had to remove and reinstall it all.

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.
