Windows 10: Muted Mic But Desktop Audio Is Heard

My desktop audio is being heard when in calls Discord, GMeet, Game VCs, etc. even though my mic is muted with a physical button. It also seems like there is a certain threshold in which the audio gets detected since when I turn the volume down on my spotify, it doesn't get detected and I can still hear it although very quiet. I tried different headsets already incase that was the problem but the problem still occurs.

How can I mute my mic from desktop

I have no mic icon or means to mute from desktop. I don't understand why there are keys and icons for speakers but no way to mute or adjust mic. I have heard of third party down loads that will allow this but I don't trust third party software. Any suggestions?

 

Weird Mic muted icon, mutes mic (Logitech software maybe?)


Having this weird problem. A number of days ago, I started seeing a muted mic icon in both the systray and the upper left corner on my desktop. I'm not sure how I'm triggering this but it mutes the mic and freaks out Voicemeter. I cannot right click or find any options for it. Seems to be related to logioptionsplus_agent.exe Logi Options +Agent. When I kill it in task manager, the icons disappear but I can't get the mic back. Any ideas? Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044 - - - Updated - - - eh, I figured it out. There is a mic mute button on my mx mini keyboard I must have hit. It saves the setting unless you turn it off so when you launch Logi Options it will always be muted. It also really screws up Voicemeter, I had to remove and reinstall it all.

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
you.

• Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
  Advanced tab.
  
• Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
  and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
  and hit OK.
  
• Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.
