  1. MWBAM icon does not appear in Notification Area on my PC at startup...

...at least, it hardly ever does. It made its first appearance for many months yesterday, but after the next reboot it disappeared again into the ether.

I wondered if it were possible to fix it to appear every time? It's an old MWBAM version, which i've used for years and don't want to upgrade; the same version that i use on my laptop and which (almost) always appears on start up.

On my PC i have modified the taskbar to incorporate a separate quick-launch section, otherwise the set up is the same (version 1902) on both machines. MWBAE and MWBAR both appear in the notification area on both machines.

In my several and varied attempts to fix the problem i have noticed that the icons displayed in taskbar>settings>select which items appear on the taskbar on my PC often do not correspond to the adjacent description. I have tried to fix this using the Rebuild Icon Cache tutorial without success.

I guess it's not that important really, but as it reminded me it's "in there somewhere" i thought i'd have another go, if anyone can help?

    Thanks.

    :)

    Startup and Notification area

R]I ran this batch file, but it did not help (which I understand, because Task Manager > Processes does NOT show WinDates).

I am back to the conclusion that Win 10 can run WinDates manually, but not automatically at startup (via link). If I double-click on the link C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\WinDates.lnk, WinDates opens fine.

My next step will be to run a scan of system files to see if something is corrupt. However, any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks everybody. I have followed your advice as closely as possible.

    A summary:

    • Uninstalled and reinstalled WinDates without a hitch

    • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\WinDates.lnk

    • Compatibility: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

    • Notification area – Select which icons appear on the taskbar: WindDates enabled

    • Task manager – Startup: WinDates enabled

    • Manual start: WinDates icon appears in the Notification area

    • Computer start: WinDates icon does NOT appears in the Notification area

Obviously, manual start and automatic start work differently in Win 10. Or ...?
