I turned my Acer computer on and it told me there was no connection so when I went to taskbar to turn it on it’s not there anymore l,I can’t turn it on when it’s no there

Can't connect my laptop to the wifi and taskbar crashes

I'm currently having a problem with my HP laptop 17-cn0013dx, where it doesn't want to display wifi connections plus the taskbar crashes and freezes. The first thing happened when I opened my laptop and no wifi connections were showing up, thinking it simply needed a reroot, I did that. It didn't help as the taskbar freezes and crashes if it's clicked over and over. Already did some of the basic steps, to restart the taskbar, didn't work. Did all the steps to repair and scan the drive, it didn't detect anything or spot a problem. Did a sfc/scannow and didn't detect nothing. Is it the wifi adapter or harddrive failure? Please help.

 

Internet through wifi connection

A few possible reasons can cause WiFi connection issues. To help us identify the cause of this problem, we would like to know the following information:

• Can you connect to the WiFi hotspot of your router? If yes, what is the status of the connection?
• Does your laptop automatically connect to the WiFi? Do you need to type a password when connecting?
• Can your laptop detect other WiFi hotspots around your location?

In the meantime, let's run the Network troubleshooter while connected using WiFi. The Network troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix common connection problems. To run it, follow the steps below:

• Click Start.
• In the search bar, type Network problems, and then select Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
• Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

Windows 10 wifi not turning on Acer Aspire laptop

In order to get the list of available wireless networks, you have to:

1. Switch on Connect to suggested open hotspots (see the screenshot in question);
   
2. Click on Wifi icon in the right corner. Now you have your networks back.
   

After that the parameter from Step 1 can be turned off, networks will be listed normally after restarting Wifi.

P.S. I feel rather stupid at the moment. I thought that open hotspots are passwordless hotspots and so are presumably not very safe. So of course I've turned that off during installation.
Really hard to see any logic in this case.
