Windows 10: My alt codes have suddenly stopped working

This just happened for no apparent reason. They were all working fine earlier today, but now no luck. Previously, [alt + 0225] would give me an accented 'a'. [alt + 0228] would give an 'a' with an umlaut. Now, they give me '♣' and '◘', which, respectively, should be the results of 5 and 8. The same goes for other codes. It's as if its only picking up the last digit, despite me holding down alt the entire time. I tried it with both alt keys and got the same result, so it's not an issue with the key. What happened? It's messing me up not being able to type these letters.

Windows 10 "Left Alt + Shift" language input switch suddenly stop working. It used to work before.

There are a few reasons why "Left Alt + Shift" is suddenly stopped working on your computer. Since you mentioned that you already tried some troubleshooting steps, we suggest that you create a
Test Profile. From there, check if the issue occurs.

To create a user profile, follow these steps:

• Go to Settings. Click Accounts.
• Select Family & other people.
• Select the Add someone else to this PC tab.
• Name the user as Test.
• Leave the password field blank.
• Hit Next.
• Sign in as Test user.

Little Alt Code Utility

It does do that, mlee. All buttons have tooltips with the alt code and a description listed in it.

The masculine ordinal number in Spanish, Italian and Portugese? I'm not even sure what it is for ... lol

 

No Alt codes working

I've found that no alt codes appear to be working using either left or right alt keys. I tried a few things suggested by an answer to a similar question ( ALT Codes Not Working
) which has made absolutely no difference.

Other than Alt codes the alt buttons both work normally, likewise with the numpad.
