Windows 10: My apps always split between my two extended external monitors when I dock my laptop and...

I have two external monitors. My settings are set that they are extended, which I want. Every time I dock my laptop and close the lid, the apps split between the two screens. Some go to the left #1 monitor, which is my main display. Some go to the right #2 monitor. I have to drag the apps over to #1. When I remove the laptop and re-dock, they split again. I cannot figure out why it does this. It does this pretty much anywhere I put my laptop on a docking station.

Can switch to, but not extend or duplicate to external monitor

I have a brand new ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 laptop and it's connected to a brand new ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock v2 and i'm having a strange issue.

Without the dock it connects to and extends to/duplicates to my external monitor just fine.

When I use the dock, it won't extend to / duplicate to my external monitor. However, i can switch back and forth between my laptop screen and my external monitor, but only one can be available at a time. At the same time, when I used the dock I was able to extend to / duplicate to a different monitor.

I've updated my intel display drivers and the drivers for the monitor in question. I made all the recommended updates to my new machine.

Where should I be focusing my efforts? On my new laptop or on the monitor?

External monitors extending issue.

I am trying to connect 6 external monitors to my laptop running on windows 10. I am using DVI-D dual-link to HDMI cable to connect the monitors to the HDMI splitter and HDMI to HDMI cable to connect the splitter to the laptop. There
is just one problem when I am extending the screens, the external monitors seem to duplicate themselves rather than extend. So instead of 1 to 7 for all monitors combined, all my laptop only detects 1 and 2. 1 being my laptop and 2 being all the other external
6 monitors. That means that all the external monitors showing me the same thing as in they duplicate and not extend. Any suggestion on it can be fixed so all the external monitors become the extension of my main laptop and do not duplicate?

 

External display with laptop and docking station

I have a Lenovo T440p laptop and docking station with a Dell external monitor. When I am using my laptop in the docking station I use both screens and select "extend this display" in the display settings to activate the external monitor. Heres my problem.
When I remove my laptop from the docking station it reverts to using one or the other displays when returned to the docking station, meaning it may be my laptop or it may be my external monitor. Windows seems to decide on its own which one I get to use so
I have to go into display settings nearly every time and select extend these displays to use both monitors. Its becoming time consuming and annoying. Why wont it remember that I am using 2 displays. I am running windows 10. I have asked our IT guys to fix
it but after weeks of asking and not getting any results from what they try a have given up hope. I had a different laptop, same brand and model that didnt display this behavior when returned to the docking station.
