Windows 10: my Asus desktop has windows 10 and boots to a blue screen that asks for a password. there...

my desktop when i turn it on i only get blue screen with password ask. Nothing is on the screen. my password or my pin work. F8,F9,F11,or F12 works. nothing i have tried works.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

Are you able to boot to desktop screen?

If not, as of now I would suggest that you perform Power Drain and check if you can return back to your desktop screen. To do so follow the steps below:

• Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
• Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
• Plug the charger/power cord and restart system.

Windows 10 and bitlocker boot password screen

Hi,

Before I assist you, I would like to know the information below.

1. Which is the latest Windows 10 build installed on the computer? What is the make and model of the Computer.

I see, the issue persisting would be due to corrupted/ incompatible/ outdated display drivers
after the latest update.

If you are able to boot to desktop screen after entering the bitlocker password, I suggest you to follow the steps below.

Method 1: As a first stage, let’s update the display drivers.

Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right click on the Display Adapter and click on
  Update driver software.

If the issue persists, then download and install the latest display driver from the manufacturer's website and check if it helps.

Upgrade crashes: It now will not boot into windows at all and just goes into the blue troubleshooting screens

I regret the inconvenience you’re facing regarding Windows 10 upgrade, and I appreciate for trying the steps to fix the issue.

To assist you better, I request you to answer the following question:

• 
  Did you receive any error message while upgrading?
  
• 
  “Blue troubleshooting screens” do you refer to the Advance boot options for windows 10?
  

If you are not able to boot to the desktop screen, I suggest you to install the windows 10 using Media creation tool and check if it helps.

I suggest you re-built the boot record by following the below commands so that you can boot to the desktop screen and check if it helps.

You will have to use Windows 10 installation media to follow the steps to boot into Recovery Environment and try to rebuild BCD.

Step 1: I suggest you to create an installation media for
Windows 10 using the media creation tool:

Step 2: After preparing the installation media, insert it hard reboot the device and follow the below:

• Boot into Windows Recovery Environment using the Windows 10 installation media.
• Click on Repair your computer.
  
• Click on Troubleshoot and in the Advanced options.
• Select Command Prompt. Type the following commands into the prompt and press Enter key after each command.

• 
  bootrec /fixmbr
  
• 
  bootrec /fixboot
  
• 
  bootrec /scanos
  
• 
  bootrec /rebuildbcd
  

5. Restart the computer.

NOTE: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting
from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
