Windows 10: My audio device setting is not working properly

When I got to change my audio output, it is always flashing back and forth with some ghost audio and any audio I have enabled. I can not go into settings and change it since the screen is flashing super rapidly when in the audio section. Only the outputs are flashing and when I click all audio devices, they all flash. Something is causing my audio to switch automatically back and forth and I tried fixing it in the control panel but can not set my headset as a default device because It switches off the selected device too fast. Please if anyone knows how to help.

Audio devices that aren't working properly in Windows 10 might have been caused by incompatible audio driver. For us to identify the root cause of this issue, we would like to ask these questions:

• What is the build number and version of your Windows?

Problem with audio devices

I appreciate you for trying some steps in order to get the issue resolved.

If you're connecting to an audio device using USB or HDMI, you might need to set that device as the default.

Open Start, enter Sound, select it from the list of results, and then, on the
Playback tab, select a device, then Set Default.

I would also suggest you to turn off Audio enhancements.

  Go to Start, enter Sound, and select Sound Control Panel
  from the list of results.
  
• 
  On the Playback tab, right-click (or tap and hold) the
  Default Device and select Properties.
  
• 
  On the Enhancements tab, select the Disable all enhancements
  check box and try to play your audio device.
  
• 
  If that doesn't work, select Cancel and, on the Playback
  tab, select another default device (if you have one), select the Disable all enhancements check box, and try to play audio again. Do this for each default device.
  

Please revert if you face any issues with Audio.

Permanently set default audio device

Hi Joost,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you need assistance to set your internal sound card as the default playback device on your Windows 10 computer.

In this scenario it is required to disable the audio device of the docking station. Disabling the audio device for the docking station will enable the internal sound card. To do so,

1. Right click on Volume icon on the taskbar > Open
   Sound settings.
   
2. Click on Sound control panel option and click on
   Playback tab.
   
3. Right click on the audio device for docking station and click on
   Disable.
   
4. This results in enabling the playback device to internal sound card.
