Windows 10: My Audio keeps shutting down when I switch to Bluetooth headphones

I recently updated my windows from 10 to 11 and got a Sony Bluetooth headphones at around the same time. Now whenever I connect my headphones, my audio stops working even though it shows that my headphones are connected. When I try to play something, the audio system shows that they can't detect any outputting device even the laptop system's speakers and I have to restart Windows audio to get it to work. If my headphones stays connected throughout this, it does eventually work, but I'm confused as to why this is happening. Has anyone else been experiencing the same thing?Since my headphones

setting up win10 Bluetooth and my Bluetooth headphones work fine ,but every time I reconnect the headphones I have to delete them from Bluetooth settings and let win10 pickup the headphones again ,before they will pair ,then win10 want to reboot to add the headphones ,I reboot and they work fine ,but next time I plug the headphone in again they will not pair ,don't even get an option to pair till I delete the head phones from the list ,, any suggestions ,, thank

To make sure I understand correctly, what exactly do you mean by "keeps switching to headphones only"? Was a headphone plugged in when that happens?

I would suggest you to try disabling the headphone and setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

2. Select "playback devices".

3. If headphone is listed, right click and disable it.

4. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

5. Save the changes.

When Changing to Bluetooth Speaker/Headphones Audio Stops


When I have a program that has audio open and decide to switch to a bluetooth speaker or headphones the device is recognized and it switches over but when I look at the volume mixer the program does not move to the new device. I have tried it with a desktop and laptop with windows 10. As well as a bluetooth speaker and bluetooth headphones. The current solution is to close and reopen the program. Is there a way to force it to move over? Is this intended for some reason? Thanks.
