Windows 10: My audio on my laptop never works unless my airpods are connected. How do I fix this?

Unless my airpods are connected to my laptop, there is no audio. I tried restarting my computer, watching youtube vidoes, changed my input and output device, troubleshooting, uninstalling audio drivers, but nothing works. Is there any other way to fix this?

Airpods connecting but no audio or really choppy

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try if your AirPods Pro are connecting but you're experiencing no audio or very choppy audio:

1. Check the Bluetooth settings on your phone to ensure the Hands-free mode is not enabled. Hands-free mode can often degrade the audio quality and cause intermittent sound.
   
2. Try turning off the Hands-free feature on your phone and see if that resolves the issue. You can go to the Bluetooth settings, find the connected AirPods device, and check if there is an option for Hands-free mode.
   
3. Check the settings on the AirPods themselves to make sure Hands-free mode is not enabled. Go to iPhone Settings > Bluetooth > Select the AirPods device > Check if there are any Hands-free related options.
   
4. Try switching the AirPods connection mode from Hands-free to Stereo. This may help improve the audio quality.
   
5. If the issue persists, you can try resetting the AirPods. Place the AirPods back in the charging case and press and hold the button on the back of the case until the indicator light flashes amber, then white. Then reconnect the AirPods.
   

If the above steps do not resolve the problem, it may be a hardware issue, and you should contact Apple customer support to see if the AirPods need to be repaired.

Is there a way to fix airpods working with mono audio off?

I recently started having a problem with my airpods when id use them with my windows 11 laptop. The sound would stop playing completely if i had my airpods connected unless i had the mono audio setting on in settings. I did a sound test but no sound was being produced at all. Does anyone know how to fix this as id rather use spatial audio for games and other things.

Edit: ive done some testing, every time i pause my music or a video or something like that the mono audio fix that i found stops working and i have to reset mono audio

I tried the steps that you listed. I have not been able to get audio on the airpods yet, so it has happened every time I have tried to switch audio to airpods consistently for the past week since getting the laptop.

Please let me know if there are any other steps I can take to resolve the issue.
