Windows 10: My Authenticator App generates a 8 digit code instead of 6. How do I make my authenticator...

I have tried unsyncing my account, delete the account and then reinstalling the app also. After all this, tried reinstalling and adding the account and it still generates a 8 digit code. Please help!

Why does Microsoft Authenticator give you 8 digit code when all the sites are asking for a 6 digit code?

We are supposed to send users with Authenticator questions to Microsoft Q&A but I've spent some time searching

and found a few suggestions that might help.

1. Turn off 2 factor verification on any account that will allow you to do this.

2. For a Microsoft account:

The confusion comes in when you add the Authenticator App to your MS account. There is an option to use 3rd party compatible QR codes. If you select that you will get a 6 digit TOTP vice 8 digit TOTP.

4. For other accounts see if the code can be sent to an email account, not a mobile phone

You may follow this steps to add your linkedin from your authenticator app.

1. Install an authenticator app from your app store (such as Microsoft Authenticator).

2. Select the profile icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage and select Settings & Privacy.

3.Under the Sign-in & security, select Two-step verification to enable or change your two-step verification method.

4. Enable two-step verification and choose Authenticator App as your verification method. Select Continue and submit your LinkedIn password.

5. Open your authenticator app and tap Add Account or click the + icon at the top right corner. If this is your first time setting up an account on the app, you’ll be prompted to set up an account.

6. Select Other and use “LinkedIn” as the account name.

7. Enter the secret key provided by LinkedIn into the Authenticator App.

8. Enter the 6-digit verification code generated by your authenticator app to verify your device.
