Windows 10: My backspace is not working on word

I was trying to sort out my bullet point settings and have done something to my backspace settings inadvertently I think. I can backspace to delete words on the same line, but cannot backspace to go to the previous line. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

My backspace only erases one character at a time. Answers on this forum indicated that by going to control panel - keyboard there is a setting. Not on mine. I can change speed of typing but no word of backspace. I changed the typing speed but it has no
effect on backspace. Another suggested it is in filters. I can not find any filters. A search for filters did not find anything.

 

Keys similar to left and right arrows available on Lumia 720?

The options are to retype the whole work, backspace from the end of the word, or, you could pick the correct word from the list of suggestions below.

 

Please Help! Backspace not working!

Hello, I was working on my computer when all of a sudden, my backspace stopped working. I took off the key cap and determined that the problem was with the software not hardware, as the switch was perfectly fine. I even unplugged the keyboard and plugged
into another one, and just like I had thought, the backspace worked perfectly. I have spent hours trying to fix it, but to no avail. Now i'm turning to Microsoft.

Things You Should Know:

• It is a software problem, as I went to Keyboard Tester and the backspace worked
• The backspace works in some places including the place where you put your pin before going to windows, some apps, the registry editor, and other places
• It doesn't work in chrome, any word processor, the search bar at the bottom, and basically any place where I didn't mention above this line.
• I've tried many, many different fixes, and none worked. I looked at my event checker to see if I had accidentally downloaded something bad. Nothing. I tried turning off all the keyboard accessibility stuff like Ease of access and filter keys. Nope. I tried
  the keyboard troubleshooting program from Microsoft. It said "the keyboard was running fine", which it clearly wasn't. I checked my drivers and they were the newest ones. I tried the onscreen keyboard, and even there the backspace didn't work. I tried binding
  the backspace key to my extra mouse buttons. Didn't work. I have tried doing a virus scan, and nothing came up.

I really hope someone here can give me the answer, because I didn't realize how often I used the backspace key, until i had lost it. I'm going to try a virtual machine next. Someone please save me.
