Windows 10: My battery drops from 64% to 0% in an hour when in sleep mode

Since the last update 2024-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems KB5048667, my battery drains a lot faster and in sleep mode it drops to 0% extremely fast.In the last hour, my laptop was in sleep mode with the lid closed, and when I tried to open it, the battery was dead. Just before I closed my laptop the battery was around 65%. It happened to me twice today. It started just after the new update. How can I fix this?

• Did you check by setting sleep mode option to never?

If not, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>System>Power & sleep.
• In the right pane, select Never from the drop down list for
  Screen and Sleep.
• Close the dialog box and check for status.

Battery drains while on sleep mode.


even mine has a slow battery drain, using Win 8.1. Even when powered off, not in sleep or hibernate, but off. It still uses the battery to keep the clock going.
Turn off fast start, as suggested, hibernate over sleep as it uses less power, and if you aren't going to use it for several hours, shut it off.

 

Battery drain in sleep mode

Hi,

I have an Asus UX430U and it's draining the battery when in sleep mode.

The cpu is running when in sleep mode. I suppose it should not happen.

The laptop is getting really hot and the whole battery goes off in around 1 hour in sleep mode.
