Windows 10: My battery icon on my laptop shows a X symbol on it and i can't use it without it being...

Any way to fix the problem, pr will i have to get a new laptop

Erroneous symbols at the bottom left corner of desktop icons

I'm running Windows 10 with the latest updates. A few days ago, the icons for objects on the desktop changed appearance. The icons are correct but
all have a symbol at the bottom left corner:

• Shortcuts show the correct shortcut symbol
• All files erroneously show a shortcut symbol
• Almost all folders erroneously show a shortcut symbol
• Some folders erroneously show "X"

The icons for files and folders (including the Desktop folder) displayed using File Explorer are all normal.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

 

Battery icon on laptop does not show

Thank you for the update. If the option is greyed out, let's try another workaround. Follow the steps below to use gpedit.msc to show battery icon:

• On the search bar, type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
• In the Local Group Policy Editor window, in the left navigation pane, expand
  User Configuration > Administrative Templates >
  Start Menu and Taskbar.
• Find the Remove the battery meter option from the list on the right side of the window, then right-click on the option, and select
  Edit.
• On the pop-up window, select Disabled and click OK to display the battery meter icon in the notification area on the taskbar.

Note: If you're using Windows 10 Home edition, the above option will not work as Local Group Policy Editor is not available for this Windows version.

If the above steps did not resolve the issue, try this instead:

• Open Device Manager.
• Under the Action tab, select Scan for hardware changes.
• Expand the Batteries section.
• Verify the AC adapter and ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery are displayed.
• Right-click on these devices then select Disable.
• Right-click on these devices again then select Enable.
• Restart your laptop and check if the battery icon is now displayed on the taskbar.

Why new laptop battery showing X mark in Taskbar

Today I replaced a new battery in Acer Aspire E5-576 laptop once the icon in the taskbar did not appear then it did which showed battery is charging. Surprisingly with in 35 minutes it charged. Then I noticed in the taskbar the battery icon is showing "X" mark. After that I re-install Battery drivers, unplugged everything kept pressing "ON" button to drain power. Even I opened laptop and re-inserted the battery but the "X" is still showing in the taskbar.

Any help in this regard will be much appreciated.
